Definizione

  • Set of three drums (sing. = Engoma) of the Luhya-Bukusu people of West Kenya: usually one big drum and two smaller ones. They are held around the waist, with a belt. Played with two sticks, or with one stick and one hand. They are made of metal tanks, covered with cow hide on both sides, laced together with cow hide laces. They are smaller than the endumba drum, which fills in the base beats. The cing'oma accompany the litungu and the ishiriri. Played in a set of three, but can also be played solo, in pair or in a set of more than three, according to the skills of the player. Played in the Kamobeka dance, completed with the Endumba / Indumba drum.
