Concept information
Définition
- Shaken rattle of the Mijikenda people of the coastal areas of Kenya. Bottle tops in an open woven basket-like container are shaken and struck; the bottle tops slide on the basket. The basket has a handle to hang it on the wall or to transport it. The bottle tops are then put in a separate container. The Uteo can play the beat when shaken and can also imitate the movement of the women who separate the dirt from the millet or beans or grains
