  • A kind of horn (conical profile), made from a branch that is cut along in two halves, then each is hollowed, and finally both are put back together with the help of pitch and metal hoops; formerly used as a signal instrument (mainly in herding); since 19th c. used during Advent and watchnight service on Christmas Eve (mainly in north-east and east regions of Poland); nowadays as part of folk revival
