  • Two-stringed fiddle of the Kikuyu people of Central Kenya. The soundbox is covered on both sides. Two metal string pegs (used to be made of wood), placed parallel to the soundbox. Movable bridge. The membrane is nailed on the soundbox with metal nails. Both the mbeve and the orutu / ishiriri bow can be used. The kikuyu also use the long bow under the influence of the Kamba community. The wandindi has the same function as the other fiddles.
