Definition
- Metal rattle of the Luo people of West Kenya, made of a metal wire attached to a wooden handle. On the wire metal bottle tops are inserted through a whole in their middle on the metal round wire. The bottle tops have been flattened and then held in the fire; which softens the tone. The rattle is used to accompany and enrich the rhythmic texture.The shaker is played by women, played for instance in Dodo dance (female dance).
