  • Set of four or five double-headed cylindrical drums of the Mijikenda people of the coastal region of Kenya. They are hung in a wooden stand. The heads are fixed by secruing rings and lacing. The set is played with the chapuo. Al are tuned and are played as part of an ensemble that includes the chivoti and the kayamba. One person plays the four drums in a row, another drummer plays the chapuo separately. The chapuo gives the rhtyhm while the others give some sort of song. The set is used in the Sengenya dance. Collective of different rhythms; "they are gossiping together"
