Definition
- Side drum oft he Luo people of West Kenya. The drum is made from a metal frame cut from a metal tank. It is covered by cow hide, tied together by hide ropes. The fur has been scraped in the middle of the membrane to leave a circle (both sides), to arrive at the right tone colour. Hung over the shoulder with a strap made from hide. Played with both hands or one hand and a stick. Put in the sun to tune. Used in the Ramogi "Tero buru" dance.
