- Five-string plucked lute of the Kongo-Bembe peoples of the Republic of the Congo. The 5 metal strings are tuned with large upright tuning pegs fitted with metal jingles. The strings are plucked with the thumb and forefinger of both hands. The instrument is used mainly to accompany singing
