Definition

  • Sets of stopped side-blown flutes The air itself is the vibrator in the primary sense. The standing waves are significantly confined within each flute, where a narrow stream of air is directed against the sharp rim of a hole in the side of the tube. Two or more flutes are played together. The distal ends of the flutes are closed. N. W. Brazil (among the Siusi). (en)
