Definición

  • One or more strings are stretched between fixed points. The string bearer and the resonator are organically united and cannot be separated without destroying the instrument. The plane of the strings lies at right angles to the soundtable. The strings pass over a tall notched bridge at successive levels, their sounding lengths increasing with their distance from the soundtable. The body, like a spike lute, has a string bearer that passes diametrically through the resonator. A line joining the lower ends of the strings would be perpendicular to the neck. Gambia, kora. (en)
